All kidding aside, IMO Bridgeport has way more blighted areas (as someone else already noted even Seth MacFarlane couldn't help take a jab at this) but they do have nice parts that most people don't even know about. On the other hand, New Haven has a great downtown but I wouldn't want to be in any other neighborhood than there or Wooster Square. People forget that NH has other areas that are just as crime-ridden as Bridgeport's east side: Fair Haven, Newhallville, the Hill - all of these areas are terrible, you just don't see them from the I-95 corridor.

You wouldn't feel safe in Westville or East Rock?

I have to admit, when I first went to Gary, it was scary. My jaw hit the ground.

E St Louis? Not AS bad...but yea, um aside from the new race track, no thanks.

Both cities have something in common...influence from the deadbeat state of IL.

Sorry, Let me rephrase - of the NH nabes I've been to, those two are the ones I know these areas pretty well and felt safe in. Haven't been to Westville or East Rock so I can't comment on those, but I've gotten lost a few times in NH (including one time on Dixwell Ave) and gone through some less-than-desireable nabes.

Sorry, should've clarified. East Rock - is that oneof the nabes on the beach?

I would say Bridgeport is worse. It really has almost nothing going for it. At least New Haven has a very strong sense of culture and education. The depiction of Bridgeport as seen on Family Gui is actually very accurate.

Well, since this Topic is still open too I might as well conribute.

Havent been to New Haven much and judging by what I hear, read, and see driving through Bridgeport...I'll have to say Bridgeport.
