From the Advocate: "Mayor Michael Pavia issued a a press release Wednesday afternoon to announce he will make an announcement at 9 a.m. Thursday on “a resolution to a decades-long land-use issue at parcel #38."
Pavia to announce a fill for the hole in the ground - Stamford411

Exciting! Wonder what it is, it was going to be an expansion of the mall in the early 90s, and then the plans fell through. Would guess a retail/residential scenario, although outside shot that it's Bridgewater giving up on Harbor Point???

"hundreds of apartments"

Then people keep asking why why why. Why is there so much traffic in the area. One day I'll look back and at how many buildings that kept going up every month/year all within a 10 miles radius. Even an empty lot in South Norwalk I notice building an apartment complex. And in Darien right on Boston Post Road .

There's actually not enough housing in the area. The apartment prices are very high so there's plenty of opportunity for more market players to come in and get a piece of the action. Eventually I think it'll be a good thing in driving down prices in the greater Stamford area when apartment dwellers have more choices and different apartments must compete. The positive is that at least it's within walking distance of the train to I expect it to really use that in it's marketing campaign for getting at NYC commuters.

It would have been much worse if a project like this was located a mile or two away from the station. Then 100% of those residents would most likely be adding on to 95 and the Merritt every day.

Sure there will be additional traffic but as an apartment dweller... I see it as a good thing

So that's why I saw a front loader in the hole in the ground... Crazy.. I spoke to some long time Stamford residents and how long it's been just nothing.
