Hey! I have an idea. Let's start a thread where we tell other posters how ****ty their computers are! The heck with supporting them, just make them feel lousy.
My i7 2600K Win 7 Prof OS install was 2.5 years old before a reformat due to a virus. Just before reformat it took me a 9 minute boot until I could get Google Chrome.

Nice!!
Some people need to learn to shut up.
And judging by the quote at the top, they also need to learn simple computer maintenance
After many updates and loading lots of programs normal Windows bootups from non ssd h.d.'s take over 8 minutes.
I wasn't bashing the guy to pick on him; it's just a fact his old computer is trash.
My $7035 gaming PC is also a mega web browsing PC as now I guess I've had over 100 Chrome tabs open and it still keeps going. I could switch to playing a game with these tabs open and Bioshock Infinite would play at great framerates at 2560 x 1600 resolution.

.......and yet, he has not found an employer willing to hire him in over 5 years. Oh yeah, can't describe in words how envious we are of his highly questionable priorities and financial irresponsibility.
To the OP, if everything works out with your system, great. If you are still concerned about speed, you may want to consider swapping the HDD for an SSD. Doesn't sound like you need anything more than a 120GB. Such a simple upgrade would probably be more cost effective than buying a new computer and offer a noticeable difference. Sure, you won't be able to open 100 Chrome tabs while playing Bioshock Infinite, but what adult with a job and social life would want to?

Yes, very glad here that it's working again. It wouldn't even bring up the desktop before, cursor just kept spinning round and round.
Checked the time on the boot up today.... 1 min and 25 secs again.
When a person replaces an internal hard drive (that contains the operating system) with a brand new hard drive, can they use the reinstallation CD that came with that computer to install the operating system in the new hard drive?
