I finally seem to have gotten my ductless mini split to work right. Bought it in Aug. 2018 for the heat wave (big Eastern windows) and it has never worked, the guy couldn't show up, the part didn't arrive, on and on. Never thought I'd have an a/c in a single-story house at 7,000 feet! It's still under warranty after going on two years because they never got it fixed. Shall see about this time. I recognize this as a completely First World problem. Back East, I didn't have a/c until I was 52 years old- just didn't believe in it.

It was very high wind up here in Ridgway/Ouray. I kept looking up for squall clouds and there weren't any. I wore most of my watering for the trees at my house.

Red flag warning for the western slope for Friday. The one good thing thing is the cooler temperatures in Mesa County. 80 degrees for today, then upper 70's till Tuesday.

A bit of showers predicted for Ridgway area Sun/Mon. Anything will help to tamp down the dryness.

Noontime news in Mesa County reports a huge fire in southeastern Colorado in the Las Animas area, maybe 10 miles north west of the town of Kim. Called the Cherry Canyon fire, it is now at 9500 acres. That area has been in a severe drought over the last several weeks.

At 6 p.m. yesterday, crews responded to the Blue Creek Fire in Mesa County about 10 miles SE of Gateway. Resources on scene include three federal engines, one heavy air tanker, six smoke jumpers, and one Department of Fire Prevention and Control Type 2 helicopter. The fire is burning in remote, rocky terrain with pinyon juniper and grass fuels. Smoke may be visible from the southwestern area of Mesa County. The fire is currently at 83 acres and was determined to be caused by lightning. Crews will continue with suppression efforts and we will provided updates as more information becomes available. #BlueCreekFire #BLMColoradoFire
