On Saturday, the smoke in Denver was the worst since Labor Day. With the gusty winds, the Mullen Fire in the Medicine Bow Range and Cameron Peak Fire were making major runs. They're now at 74K acres and 124K acres respectively. Colorado (and Wyoming) still isn't in the clear it looks like sadly.

CSU's Mountain Campus is about to be overrun by the Cameron Peak Fire. It was evacuated this morning. It's the second time in the last 30 years the campus has been threatened by wildfire. In 1994 the Hourglass Fire burned about a dozen structures on the campus.

Default Cameron Peak Wildfire

I just moved here a few months ago and wondering the containment progress has been made?

InciWeb contains information about all of the active wildfires in the US. It's a great resource for learning about the status, origin, and scope of any fire.

Currently the Cameron Peak Fire stands at 56% containment.

Please keep in mind that containment is a very specific firefighting term. It means there is a control line established at that portion of the fire. The rest of the fire may or may not be suppressed or may or may not be capable of expanding.

Another vote for Inciweb. That site has come a long way in the last 5 or 6 years.

This. The northern flank of the fire is where the strongest containment is. The wind in the foothills has been really bad since last night, and that will continue through late in the day today. The fire is making a run to the southeast due to the wind. Kinda scary that Masonville is under mandatory evacuation orders. That's only 5 mi as the crow flies from the southwestern part of Fort Collins and the northwestern corner of Loveland.

Bad news out of Larimer County. The windy weather the last 24 hours whipped up the Cameron Peak Fire, and it made another huge run. It's grown 20,000 acres since last night. It's now the biggest fire in state history at just under 160,000 acres.
