Good job Moffat County! Fastest uptick of COVID cases percentage-wise of any county in the entire country. Freedumb! The level of stupidity and ignorance in and around Craig is absolutely astounding.

Got a notification from the app on my phone that I was exposed to someone who is positive for covid. The thing is that I work from home and best that I can recall is that other than dropping my kid at school, I didn't even go out that day! But like a dutiful citizen I still went and got tested and am now waiting for the results. Since I really, really don't think I was exposed, I went with the free but non-rapid test so I might not hear for up to 3 days. But since I'm fully vaxxed, I apparently don't need to quarantine.

More people now hospitalized with COVID in Colorado than at any point in 2021

Unclear if new coronavirus cases have plateaued in Colorado or are now rising again

https://www.denverpost.com/2021/10/1...st-point-2021/

"Colorado’s COVID-19 hospitalizations are higher than they’ve been at any time since we bid 2020 a less-than-fond farewell — and about 90% of intensive-care beds in the state are full.

As of Friday afternoon, 983 people were hospitalized across the state with confirmed cases of COVID-19, which was the highest number since Dec. 31. At the peak of the deadly winter wave on Dec. 2, there were 1,841 people hospitalized with confirmed cases.

Scott Bookman, the state’s COVID-19 incident commander, asked anyone who is eligible and hasn’t gotten vaccinated to get the COVID-19 and seasonal flu shots, to reduce strain on hospitals.

About 77% of people hospitalized with COVID-19 in Colorado are unvaccinated."

LOL. Pikabike, I tried to rate your post postitively, but the forum wouldn't let me. Guess I've given you too many positives relative to other posters.

Well, as of this coming Wednesday, at noon, Larimer County is going back mandatory mask in all indoor places. At least that's what the head of the Health Department stated this past Friday. Now, just how many businesses, as in Walmart or McGraffs, will do this, don't know, but there will be those that will refuse. Just like there will be those residents that will refuse to wear a mask.

Colorado prepares for possible mask, vaccine mandate as COVID hospitalizations grow

Chief medical officer urges restaurants, businesses to implement mandates on their own

https://www.denverpost.com/2021/10/2...ates-colorado/

"Coronavirus hospitalizations are at their highest point since Christmas and officials with the state Department of Public Health and Environment believe Colorado could hit capacity by the end of November.

Hospitals are already diverting — or turning away — ambulances as their emergency rooms fill, France said.

“Ultimately, we are trying to protect our hospital beds,” he said, adding, “Maybe we have to really work harder to have businesses require masks or ask restaurant owners to ask for proof of vaccination.”

I posted in the COS forum last week that the outpatient foot surgery I had scheduled for Thanksgiving week has been postponed indefinitely because the hospital (Memorial Central) is full of COVID patients. The scheduler who gave me the bad news thought that they might be able to do it in December or January.... but AFAICT things are still getting worse all over the state, not better, and I'm not really expecting to get my foot fixed until spring now.

While returning to mask mandates in stores and public places would help, I think sustained close contacts in casual indoor gatherings are a worse problem, especially holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas where people travel and spread their germs with family and friends from multiple households all at once. Maybe the availability of vaccines for children and boosters for adults will help some (I've been hearing about a lot of breakthrough infections lately, including in my own extended family).

El Paso county leads the state in four COVID stats: lowest percentage of the population vaccinated, highest daily new infection rate, largest number of confirmed cases to date, and largest number of COVID related deaths to date. I really feel sorry for those who work in service industries, knowing they are being needlessly exposed to the virus and its mutations. If this is a race to the grave, I wonder who will win?
