Gov. Jared Polis: “Misinformation and targeted lies” hindering vaccine efforts, killing Coloradans

https://www.denverpost.com/2021/12/0...tion-colorado/

"Close to 30% of Coloradans remain unvaccinated against COVID-19, according to state data. Now in its fifth wave of the virus, Colorado is reporting several thousand new cases of the virus each day. As of Thursday the state reported having only 67 intensive-care hospital beds and 399 general hospital beds available statewide. Polis and other officials have warned for weeks that hospital capacity could be exceeded here this month.

About 82% of the Coloradans hospitalized with COVID-19 as of Thursday were unvaccinated, the state said. More than 9,500 Coloradans have died from the virus.' "

Unfortunately, you can't fix stupid.

I saw a bumper sticker yesterday. "I'm vaccinated. I'm not stupid."

I don't think name-calling is helpful to getting anyone (either stupid or frightened) to get vaccinated. I don't know what will.

The only thing that I can think of that might help to “move the needle” (no pun intended) is an alternate method of vaccination, like this nasal spray that is currently being developed/investigated at Stanford, although it seems like it will be awhile until something like this actually hits the market: https://med.stanford.edu/news/all-ne...sal-spray.html

Other than that, I can tell you what doesn’t help — this thought that somehow politicians or public figures can persuade someone who has decided to not get vaccinated. Most people have made up their minds on their own and have made the decision for themselves. So when I hear things like “oh, if only _insert name of politician or public figure here_ could publicly support the vaccines …” I laugh.

And, of course, making fun of someone or calling them stupid isn’t going to cause them to reconsider. They will most likely double down on their choice.

Also, bumper stickers or other signaling of one's stance unfortunately has become a political identification that has nothing to do with public health.

Really?
Tell that to the 34 year old male that I personally knew. Note the past tense.

Note the date of my original post. This was as it just started. Yes, I was wrong, but the media was/is out of control, hiding behind the First Amendment, with their sloppy, sensationalistic and irresponsible reporting. Also I underestimated the stupidity of people wrt fighting against its mitigation and making it a political issue.
