Have I mentioned why Italy?
The Chinese population exploded there - they are so involved with the leather business
they have flights straight to Wuhan.
Cheaper labor to be able to say "Made in Italy".
The New Yorker mag has articles.

I find it is very easy to poo-poo the media when it is not in your area.
I hope it never comes to your town or is isolated well.

This virus is indeed 'different'...and any lung problems and watch out!
Am I being an alarmist or worried, no.
I think I would be fine, just feel terrible for a time. I hate the flu. Or a cold.
And I have nothing else of interest to talk about. Except,
Am Idol was amazing last night the artists were superb! Wow.

That might protect a few elders but it sure won't slow the spread of the virus in that college kid town.
Spring break, including extra-long spring breaks, don’t help prevent spread, either. The kids TRAVEL and they gather in groups. And some don’t care much because they are at low risk of death from this virus.

Here’s some more poo-poo media, but with pictures and simulations! This explains why the people complaining about the measures should really get a grip.

From disctionary.com:
rampant[ ram-puhnt ]
adjective
1. violent in action or spirit; raging; furious:
a rampant leopard.
2. growing luxuriantly, as weeds.
3. in full sway; prevailing or unchecked:
a rampant rumor.

Am I missing something? Perhaps the name of the virus should be changed to mediavirus?
Dude I know from your past posts that you're not a Trumpeter, but you're running the Fox News/Rush Limbaugh playbook verbatim. I know you've dressed down people for acting like experts, but scapegoating the media is equally stupid. The media didn't declare a national emergency or pretend like this was NBD for a month. The media didn't shut down China, Italy, Spain, and France.

The responsible media is reiterating what Dr. Fauci and the experts are saying about this. Fox News, OTOH, is STILL occasionally pretending like it's BAU. Boot-licking morons like Devin Nunes are telling "healthy" people to go out into public and patronize restaurants and bars. The governor of Oklahoma did the same thing (even posted a picture of himself in a packed restaurant to social media) - and then declared a state of emergency less than 24 hours later.

The old, infirm and in poor health already (like any bad flu virus).

For the rest of us not much to worry about.
Been listening to Rush?

Did you read anything about this SARS CoV-19 on the World Health Organization or the CDC? Do you even know what SARS is?

Have you listened to Dr Fauci? When he says that this is ten times deadlier than flu, do you think he's lying?

Closing schools state wide, closing restaurants, is what? Media hype?

Do you think you're immune because you're young? Young people who are other wise healthy die from flu every year. If this is ten times deadlier do you think that young people who were other wise healthy won't die?

It's this mentality that is part of why this highly contagious SARS virus is spreading like wild fire. Maybe you care about your 401K? Maybe you would want this to end sooner rather than later for that to bounce back? Maybe you have an elderly relative or family member that you might think about trying to protect? Stop being nonchalant and low information about this. It is deadly serious. How can you have this bizarre disconnect when you see what's happening to our economy and the spread of this?

I guess our CO governor and the National Guard (arriving today in Telluride to assist with long-needed testing) are just listening to the wrong media.
And my friend in Italy is imagining things.

This is gonna be bad at best, and it's no help for all this ignorant blather from some people.

Restaurants, bars, casinos, gyms, and theaters. It sucks, but there are just too many selfish, inconsiderate aholes who can't be trusted to police themselves. Bars were packed in Downtown Denver over the weekend with people celebrating St. Patrick's Day.

Restaurants and bars can still do takeout or delivery. That should mitigate their losses a bit.
