This is a huge industry. Oh my goodness.

Bon Safeway was open today in CS, CO
Everyone is tunnel visioning on the virus. Feels like we on the verge of a complete breakdown of society. More people will die from the aftermath of all this than the virus itself.

Restaurants and bars can still do takeout or delivery. That should mitigate their losses a bit.
Theaters? You can allow 50 inside that sit 10 seats apart, tho..

Wow, I'm in shock at the financial burden on the little people.
No one will be getting take out from the fancy restaurants, imo. Sorry, just feel so bad for them.
I'm fine...many are renters - with so many bills and no savings.
A lot of food will be donated to the Soup kitchens - a lot.

Couldn't he have done it for 2 weeks? I'm not seeing how people will pay so many bills on their plates.
I used to be young, over my head with bills...I know how tuff it can be.
Well, maybe cash advances on credit cards?

If our feckless president hadn't tried to downplay this for almost a month, we wouldn't be in the position we're in now.

I'm really bummed about the gyms - with few people going right now anyway it was definitely not crowded inside. 30 days seems like a lot. But, he can always undo it sooner if things really improve.

I'm thinking about my nephew who waits tables - I don't know how he's going to pay bills now, his rent, etc.
Hopefully there will be some financial assistance available.

I did see Colorado Springs Utilities suspended all cancellations for non-payment.

This virus remains viable on surfaces for 6-24 hours depending on the surface. It’s the main way community spread is established. Theaters are Petri dishes.

Cases will continue to increase exponentially for at least the next two weeks following this shut down. Because of how long the incubation period is, 14 days isn’t enough to even know if we’ve reached the peak.

If the federal Senate passes the bill, those affected by quarantines and shut downs should get at least two weeks’ pay rather than being at the mercy of their employer. If that fails, we need to implement universal 2-4 weeks’ paid time off at the state level for the large segment of society in the service industry. I dare say waivers and tax credits for landlords and utilities who offer flexibility in this time should be instated.

Buckle in, folks. This is our reality for at least a couple months, if not into spring 2021.

May I say in addition that community spread is greatly established by people who are infected being in close (less than six feet) proximity, coughing or not, and having no symptoms.

Early in the thread I said I would Rage if Gov Fat Ars closed the gyms. Ok, That was hyperbole, I am not actually raging. And I probably wouldn’t even bother commenting if it had been only two weeks, or only the hot spots and Denver. But 30 days for the entire State seems excessive. Is the State going to pay everyone’s gym bill for the month? There are less than 10 people go to my huge gym anyway, nobody needs to be close to anyone else. Still very few Commievirus cases south of Highlands Ranch.
