Ahh, didn't know about the extended stay. There are a lot of people who need to stay near the hospital for a while. Good fit.

Daily Reflector confirmed today that Carolina Ale House is going into the current Kirkland's building. More details coming out in tomorrow's paper.

That is awesome news. Came here to post that as well.

The new Croatan opened yesterday on campus. Has a Chilis Too and Chick-fil-a inside.

I still wonder if Kirkland's will reopen somewhere else. Their current building is kinda small but is a good location for a restaurant.

Personally, I think the location stinks because of parking. Have fun trying to get a place to park, while all the teenie-bopers are at the mall on Fri/Sat night. The old Bolis on the Blvd, even though was smaller, had better parking. Or even Ham's. But they obviously know what they're doing.

Capital Food Group is seeking a special use permit for a restaurant with outdoor seating on the site of the old Plaza Theater on Charles Street by the Greenville Mall. They are developers of Mello Mushroom restaurants, so I assume this is where one will be built if their request is approved.

A little encouragement- the Federal Courthouse in Lynchburg relocated from a '70s designed building in downtown Lynchburg to a new location several blocks away. The adaptive reuse of an old school facility was included in the design. The school building houses the bankruptcy court while the new portion houses a federal district court. The design included a new post office location on the far corner of the city block, directly opposite the bankruptcy court. This link is from the firm that did the engineering. I'm not really sure of the size, but the old digs had about 36,000 sf, and this structure is quite a bit larger than the old.

I have enjoyed learning about the Greenville area; it seems to have a lot going for it!

^I think it will do very well. I am not a huge wing person, but I do love ECW's.
