Awesome! Like I said, there have been rumors since the day that store opened. I went right before Christmas and the cashier said their sales had been tremendous for the day. I actually had noticed that the store seemed busier as of late.
Hopefully the land around the Fresh Market will develop as intended.
Greenville needs flights going somewhere other than Charlotte

I'd love to be able to hop a local plane for a decent price and go non stop to Charleston, SC, Orlando, Miami, NYC without having to go thru Charlotte . Seems like US Air controls all of Greenville's flights and they all go to Charlotte hub. If I'm wrong please let me know. I can't seem to get much online info concerning G'ville's flights.
We heard today from a very reliable source that our The Fresh Market in Greenville will be closing. I will be sick if this is true, does anyone know if it is indeed a fact, and if so why? It certainly isn't sales. Thank you for your input.
I actually work there and you are right that it cant be sales. I worked an 8 hour shift on valentines day and had over $10,000 come through my register alone. we do anywhere from $125,000-$150,000 a week (an average week without holidays or sporting events).
One day last month I saw about 6 contractors' trucks at the former Boli's. The lights inside were on, but I don't know what they were doing in there, though.
I noticed yesterday that there is a new sports bar in there called "the upper deck".

Runway extensions will allow the usage of larger planes. In theory, they would be able to get more planes in with a larger variety. I assume, if Airline companies see they can make a buck here, they would put flights in.
Greenville is wanting to position itself as the gateway city for ecotourism in the east.
Greenville is wanting to incorporate kayak put in/take out at the town commons and Port Terminal. Also creating more fishing areas along the South Tar River greenway
The South Tar River Greenway that is currently being constructed should be complete by March. The design for the Green Mill Run phase 2 should be done by August. Greenways are going to be a priority in the city.
Thomas Langston Road extension should be completed by December.
Greenville wants a shuttle for AMTRAK and promote the city for a possible future addition to AMTRAK.
Greenville is thinking about selling bonds specifically for parks. They are thinking of the possibility of building a new park near Countryside Estates. (Isn't Countryside Estates off of Fleming School Road, right inside the bypass? Greenfield Terrace Park is fairly close.....)

Greenville REALLY wants to make sure ECU is still going to build a performing arts center downtown. And they are progressing with the renovation of White's Theater downtown.
It is still in the possible stage that the airport will receive a runway extension.
