One is currently under construction near the Vidant Medical Center, I believe the projected opening is sometime last next year or 2014.
Oh, I haven't heard that. Well that will be awesome. I'm from Greenville, but I'm in Louisiana stationed in the Coast Guard. Plan to retire back home. It's good to know I can get medical care there now.
Yes, an actual VA Hospital, like in Durham has to be in the eventual pipeline, but its good to have this.
Does it make more sense to have one in Greenville versus somewhere in the area between Jacksonville/Wilmington or in the Charlotte metro area. Does Greenville have more vets than those areas?

No, but Durham doesn't either.
Location in both places is likely due to the nearby medical facilities.
Hate to be a hater, but I would run from VA medical. Nothing more appropriately describes "you get what you pay for."
My last visit for lower back injury, th VA doc diagnosed me as having all my internal organs, reversed. He ran around with his earth shaking discovery until s one one explained he w,as looking at X-rays from the wrong side. Yep you can have those guys. Good luck.
