They planned to put one over in that area several years ago, so it's possible.

I really think that something needs to be done to connect PCC to all of these restaurants (improved crosswalks, ped. bridge, etc.) I went to PCC a couple years ago and just getting across Memorial was hell, much less every hour when all the classes let out. I think easier pedestrian access would help all of the restuarants/retail out on that side.

Underground tunnel to that small spot beside dairy queen would be ideal

Haha...UNCW has had in their plans for years a Pedestrian Bridge across College Rd...problem is the City and UNCW would have to pay for it and no one wants to.

Memorial is about the same type of road across from PCC and there is much less student housing than UNCW has near their intersection. This is also Winterville city limits, so I highly doubt Winterville has money for a crossing and certainly PCC doesnt have money for pedestrian bridges (or tunnels).

Maybe Winterville and PCC can coordinate long term improvements when the Firetower extension project is completed in about 5 years. Better pedestrian access across Memorial at the Firetower intersection could be added to the redesign of that intersection. Maybe its in the plans...but if it isnt, it should be.

To make matters even more complicating, the DQ side of the road is Greenville's jurisdiction. Winterville ends at Fire Tower on on the east side of 11. So this project would include PCC, Winterville and Greenville....

Does anyone know what is planned for the southwest corner of the Worthington and County Home intersection? What looks like the beginnings of a cell tower went in several months ago, and there it sat. Fast forward to about a week ago, and suddenly all the trees are gone. New subdivision, perhaps?

Was downtown the other day and realized how much better it would look if Stop Shop / Sup Dogs just tore down their current buildings and started from scratch.

Day late, the land owner just cleared some of the land to have new trees planted. I don't think it'll be developed at this time.
