Looks like the board gave the approval for the apartment complex on Dickenson. Of course the usual suspects on facebook are out complaining and this & how the city needs the parking lot. People that do not understand what this will do for the uptown Dickenson Ave. area frustrate me to no end.
Isn't that really close to the new Transportation Hub?
Since Circuit City is apparently making a comeback, I wonder what the chances of them coming back to Greenville are? I'm pretty sure I know the answer, but I wanted to see what y'all thought, anyway.
I took a stroll around downtown yesterday. There were workers inside of the former Dapper Dan's on Dickinson. The store appeared empty of all shelving and display cases. I couldn't tell if they were just cleaning or maybe painting. When I walked around a bit later, a couple of guys were carrying in a couple of good-sized pieces of heavy glass that they had retrieved from a van - a purple van with colored bubbles on it, plus an advertisement for 'Sweet Pets.' I assume that van is either currently or formerly associated with the Sweet Pets pet store in Bells Fork. So the questions arise: Does Sweet Pets use Dapper Dan's for storage? Do they own it? Is it being renovated? Is a new tenant in the works? Did Sweet Pets sell or loan out their van to a contractor/subcontractor? Are they planning on moving downtown or opening a second location? Anyone know what, if anything is happening at Dapper Dan's?
^I thought Sweet Pets closed a little while back. Maybe those people bought their van.
Yep, you're right. They're permanently closed. Still like to know what's going on in Dapper Dan's, perhaps they're prepping it for lease or sale, considering the renewed interest in Dickinson Avenue.
