In the small cities category...and honestly the quality of manufacturing job in Greenville (if its considered a small city) is pretty good. The ASMO expansion is sure to help as well. NAACO, P&G, Grady-White, etc...all good companies.

Nitpicking but P&G isn't actually here anymore. They sold the Attends business unit several years ago.

I didn't realize that we had as much manufacturing as we do. The top few employers really are large.

Interesting methodology- not really related to the actual percentage of manufacturing jobs or the part they play in the local economy. The figure is related to the current trends in the manufacturing sector in relation to overall benchmarks as compared to years past. In the list, there are plenty of cities (i.e. Spartanburg or Greenville, SC) that rank far below, but have much more robust manufacturing sectors than a city like Greenville. The "small" size city is an area with 150,000 or less jobs. Apparently, the manufacturing sector, while small, is seeing strong growth as compared to many other localities.

Does anyone know where Dunham Sports will be located? The Burlington store is in the old Belk building in Holly Hill Mall, a 90,000 sq ft space. The Rocky Mount store will take up most of the old Sears building in Golden East Crossing Mall. Circuit City building or the Belk Men's dept/ old Rose's store in the Greenville Mall?

WITN is now broadcasting in full 1080i High Definition from their brand new Greenville studios.

It's nice having the local stations utilizing all of those square inches of tv screen that I bought.

Greenville is now the home base for two of the "big three" network TV stations in this region. Pretty neat!

^ well, WNCT needs to wake up & advance themselves to the 21st century. They are falling further & further behind & can't keep anyone there longer than a year or two it seems. Now that WITN is in HD I won't even consider watching their news anymore.

The new WITN studio at least looks legit now, I'm no longer embarrassed by it being on when out of town friends are visiting.

Not much better than Heather King in HD in the morning

That's why I'm quick to jump in when people say Greenville is just a college town. Greenville has been a manufacturing hub in Eastern Carolina for a very long time. When you read the manufacturing history of Greenville, it's pretty amazing to see it all written in one place.
