But where are we going to get 500 acres? Oh yeah, the unused airstrip.
This would be amazing. Easy to get caught up in this building craze, but let's be careful. Something like a big beautiful park is timeless.

Close down Burke Lakefront and turn it into a beautiful lake front park...maybe even do whatever it takes to create a swimmable beach at it?

Totally agree. I think if they really pushed hard to get public support for converting Burke to a park (or a mix of park and office/residential) it could get done. Long term, big game changer and would cement downtown as a solid investment for developers.

IMO this would be the ideal. Honestly we could have something nicer on our lakefront than any other American city.

Not only that. Move that Amtrak station it's too far off in the cut.

Do what Daley did with Meigs Field in Chicago back in 2003 -- bulldoze Burke in the middle of the night while no one's looking!

The Lakeshore Limited arrives in Cleveland westbound at 3:33AM, eastbound at 5:38AM.

The Capitol Limited arrives westbound at 2:53AM, eastbound at 1:45AM.

With such limited service times, the location barely matters.

Also it's interesting that Cleveland isn't mentioned as a connecting airport on those schedules, but Chicago and Pittsburgh are.

Yea, I do think turning the vast majority of it into a park is a good idea. Development over just the parking lot and current buildings portion of it is about right.
