What is household income and family income? How are students and retirees accounted for in those numbers?

These are Census Bureau terms...

"Household income is a measure commonly used by the United States government and private institutions. Each household is measured by the income of every resident over the age of 15."

Interesting. I'd still argue that perhaps I've got Mentor too high and not that I've got UH too low. I'd be curious if the Mentor numbers are impacted by having more retirees or a wider population range (i.e. more wealthy people, but also more poor people).
