I am looking at a much of different properties in the area and the property tax does not look right (very cheap compared to other places in CPSD, i,e Hough). The county auditor's property valuation is way off the mark across the board.

Can anyone comment? I am aware of various abatements out there for new construction, etc., but it looks like everyone in these neighborhoods is underpaying...

The only thing I can think of is the abatements. There is quite a bit of new construction and all newly constructed housing gets 15 year abatements. Are you looking at just new structures or are you looking at some old properties as well?

I am looking at almost all older properties.

From observation, most houses (price < $100K) in Ohio City or Tremont are paying around $1K. $25K houses in the east part of Cleveland are paying $2K.

It looks like the Ohio City and Tremont houses have been assessed at an unrealistically low value by the county auditor. I am considering buying property in the area, but don't want to be on the hook for a potential HUGE property tax increase.
