It seems MOST cities out here on the East are either stagnant with last year, or higher.

Wow @ SF only being at 36 though... that's almost the same rate as NY. I've heard of a lot of incidents happening this year too (that kid with the red shoes who got the **** beaten out of him on BART on the way to San Bruno, that German tourist who got shot, the psycho driver who ran over 5 people, etc). I'm genuinely surprised its that low.
wait wow so whats the warmest month in san fran then???? 50 in july insane

September's generally the warmest month... it'll get up to about 80. Not this year though.

yeah in my city (rochester ny) we passed last years total in like the middle of June! last year we had our lowest homicide count in over 10 years! it finally looked like the city was making progress; unfortunately that hope was short-lived.

i think its been a rough year for buffalo as well; i remember hearing on the news that one night over the summer they had a quadruple homicide.

i wonder how other cities in NY (outside of NYC) have been doing? a lot of cities in NY have serious crime and poverty issues, but it goes largely unnoticed because so much attention is given to NYC--its really a shame. how are things supposed to improve when the issues are hardly even acknowledged by the rest of your state--let alone outside of the state. this isn't unique to new york state though, this seems to be a problem in most states (smaller, troubled cities get overlooked because people are far more concerned/interested in the 'main' or 'big' city in the state).

While 135 murders so far this year is outrageous considering New Orleans' population, the numbers of the last 3 months reveal that things just might be changing.
