Oh yeah, Hell, I used to go there 45 years ago. Sometimes we'd go over there after trying to pick up chicks at Kiddy Land.

My best friend is from Elmwood Park and he recently married off his youngest daughter; huge Italian wedding with a real band even. Anyway at midnight he had a bunch of Gene and Judes brought in for the people that were still going, a great touch.

I'm going to hot dougs this weekend... planning on ordering 4 various dogs and some duck fat fries.
Hot dougs is the holy grail of all encased meats.

Ok.

So after checking out this post for about a week I'm still not sure what defines a NY Hot Dog.

Is it the dog? The toppings? I'm still in the dark.

There honestly is nothing special about it. I am proud of many things that are New York, but I think the New York hot dogs are just famous because there are so many street vendors that sell them. There literally is at least one cart every couple of blocks.

The Chicago Hot Dog, on the other hand, is a creation that has a specific number of toppings, and is served on a specific type of bread. A true geographical culinary concoction, which is why I voted for it.

Like I said, I'm proud of a lot of things that are New York, but the "NYC Hot Dog" is nothing special, and nothing specific. It's just a hot dog ... some people get it with sauerkraut, some with mustard, ketchup, or onions.

I'll add this - I bet that at least half of the people who voted for the New York hot dog never even tried a Chicago hot dog. It's no mystery that homerism exists on these boards!!

A Chicago Hot Dog is seriously a work of art.

A Chicago Hot Dog is ok, but much better if eaten outside of Chicago!

Tastier, cleaner, and you won't be sales taxed to death!
