Chicago all day. What makes a NY hotdog a NY hotdog in the first place?

What makes Chicago hotdogs Chicago hotdogs?

All hotdogs are Vienna hotdogs exactly the same around the world.

Keep in mind that NY was eating hotdogs when Chicago was still a prairie, if anything Chicago hotdogs is a derivateive of NY hotdog.

Also, sweet onions on a hotdog are a New York thing.

Both are good. IME NY hot dogs are more garlicky.

I dislike anti-ketchup snobs, I grew up on the West Side of Chicago and lived here almost 60 years and I put ketchup on a hot dog once in awhile. Anybody wanna do somethin' about it?

The guy at Hollyeats considers northern NJ, not NYC, the true bastion of northeast hot dogs. I gotta say those rippers at Rutts Hut look pretty good.

NY all day. Chicago dogs have too much garbage on them. It's disgusting.

Same goes for pizza.

Nah, we had our own Germans here, from the boat right to the prairie. They sure as Hell didn't need sausage making lessons from New Yorkers.
