The map posted clearly showed Maryland and Delaware as Southern. Does every Southerner have a different list of Southern states or what? Some of you will be claiming New Jersey or California as "down south" before too long.
That map is wrong. Maryland and Delaware ARE NOT southern states. Especially not Delaware, most of which is tied economically and culturally to metro Philadelphia.
You can't even compare North Dakota to a southern state.
I swear this is hilarious.
Whats wrong with North Dakota? Great economy, almost non-existent crime, good schools, taxes aren't too bad. Is all of that a bad thing? The only bad part of nd is the isolation in some parts of the state and the winter can be a little rough if you aren't used to it.
I'd still rather live in Bismark, Fargo, Grand Forks or Minot over any city in say Alabama or Mississippi.
Northern Wisconsin is often colder than most of southern Canada and it can get down to -50 to -60F air temperature in more severe arctic outbreaks.
How often does Wisconsin really see -50 to -60? A few times a century? Just checked Green Bay, and they've never been colder than -36, and that's northern Wisconsin. If -50 to -60 happens in Wisconsin, it's a truly historic arctic outbreak and it's very likely hitting all the way to the Gulf Coast, similar to that time it snowed in Miami in the 1970s. It's not a regular occurrence.

How much time have you spent in any of the places you mentioned?
"Down South" is getting beaten like a drum in this poll. Just so there are no hard feelings, you can have Ohio from the Midwest.
Please.
Please.
Why would the Midwest want to give up its 2nd largest state economy (7th in the US)?
