Phoenix is the lowest of the top 25 in income p/capita, which surprises me. I suppose that's what I get for only spending time in Scottsdale.

Atlanta is surprisingly low. I've seen this before, but I would not think Houston is higher than Atlanta p/capita.

I think I said this last time a list like this was posted, but I would have expected metro DC and Greater Boston to be nearly even. A bit surprising to see Boston ~13% higher p/capita.

I haven't tracked growth or p/capita increase, but i'd assume Denver is higher than average in terms of both over the last 4-5-6+ years.

Unless I am misinterpreting something, some CD participants often post how impoverished the average person in Miami is, yet the per capita data provided below ranks Miami above San Diego, Houston, Dallas, Austin, Atlanta, Chicago and Philadelphia, among others.

Well, the poverty rate in Miami is lower than many of the cities you listed. And the top 1-5% earner in Miami, and their ceiling, is higher than most of the cities you listed.

So I'm not sure why anyone would have that impression in 2022.

I assume per-capita in this context is mean as opposed to median? It's no surprise that Miami does well if looking at mean as there are some absurdly wealthy folks that bring up the average. Houston benefits from this as well with the energy industry.

The median income numbers is where Miami tends to lag.

I guess I was expecting it to rank lower than at least 3-4 of those 7 other cities I mentioned, most of which offer far better W-2 reported income earning opportunities for more people along with some also being home to very wealthy individuals with fewer non income earning retirees and non income reporting/laundering foreigners that weigh down and are still counted in population figures.
