COUNTY AND METRO GDP DATA WILL BE RELEASED NEXT MONTH, but this is the first county and metro data income released for 2020 by the US Commerce Dept(bea.gov)

At first glance, there doesnt appear to be much change in the rankings from previous year data, and we also didnt really see the free fall in income that many(myself included) anticipated would occur due to the pandemic.

Wow, this looks so poorly on CA. I understand the demand is through the roof to move there, but LA and Riverside especially, cannot induce proper wages for the counties they serve? Huh?

I think people are a little confused.

This is not a list by wages or salary, this is per capita income, meaning all of the personal income divided by every man, woman and child living in that geography.

Also great to see how strong the Philadelphia area performs economically, maybe silencing some of the naysayer comments I see in other threads.

What I find particularly interesting is most slower-growth metro areas in the Midwest/Northeast manage to either match or even surpass the income growth of much faster-growing Southern/Western metros.

Honestly, the personal income growth really doesn't seem to correlate geographically at all. Goes to show that population growth definitely isn't the be-all and end-all for economic strength and productivity.
