Is it possible that Illinois could somehow pass Florida? Illinois is definitely becoming the 5th trillion dollar economy this year and its only separated by Florida by almost 300 billion? I doubt it but Florida's economy isn't nearly as diverse as Chicago/Illinois.
Tennessee is very impressive. Surpassed Colorado this year.

Short of it getting swallowed up into the sea, there's just really no way Florida will ever get passed by another state. The U.S. and the world will be in complete shambles by the time that happens anyways.
Overall the retirees drag down Florida's per capita GDP quite a bit, same thing with the median income numbers. Plus Social Security, Medicare, transfer payments etc. aren't even included in GDP figures either.

Yeah, this must not be including the Tesla, HP and Oracle departures? Does that put Texas ahead?
Nope, this is Q4 data, so those are all factored in already.
California's annual growth rate in 2021 was +7.8%, while Texas' was +5.6%
I can't wait to see Metro and CSA data for 2021.
