This is true. Pittsburgh has a lot of rougher suburbs than Cincinnati does, and Cincinnati has more rougher inner-city neighborhoods than Pittsburgh does.

NYC - 210 (as of 7/3 - down from 233 on the same date in 2021)

By borough:

Bronx - 67 (68 in 2021)

Brooklyn - 65 (71 in 2021)

Manhattan - 37 (46 in 2021)

Queens - 38 (41 in 2021)

Staten Island - 3 (7 in 2021)

That's why sometimes MSA rates are more relevant than city proper rates. Atlanta is one where the low city population but majority of the crimes in the metro happen within the city give it a disadvantage.

Speaking of Atlanta, the mid-year total is 82, up from 66 the year prior. Also overall crime is up, person and property. Yeah, 2022 sucks.
