I was gonna say its shooting rate but you caught that already. DC was murder capital for most of the 90s and last in 2003 not 1980. Prior to 2003 Baltimore only had a higher murder rate than DC 3 times in 30 years going back to the 70s.
I believe Gary was the murder capital in 2003, but the average annual murder rate in D.C. from 1988-1997 (70.8 per 100k) was probably the highest ever for a large city over a 10 year span.
Six homicides Friday, and four of those were under the age of 20, including two babies. A 4 year old girl died from inflicted of child abuse in the Chatham neighborhood. Also, a 5 month old girl in the South Shore neighborhood was fatally shot in the head while in a car when another car pulled up and someone started shooting.
1 killed and two others wounded in a shooting that place inside WeatherTech Warehouse in southwest suburban Bolingbrook. Word is not given for the shooting but the suspect has fled the building is on the run.
Gary Indiana has had 8 homicides in the past month and a half or so… pretty bad when you consider the city has a population less than 75,000.
On paper, it's actually estimated at around 68,300. But it's lower than that in reality. So you can at the very least say that Gary, Indiana's population is no more than 68,000 and likely 67,000 range in reality.
