3 more murders on the southside in HR. That's 11 murders in less than a week and 21 people shot in total the past 7 days, including one happening at a vigil for a previous murder victim where the leader of a 'Stop the Violence' organization was shot. Gang violence flaring up between some sets in Portsmouth and Norfolk.
• A man was shot dead in the Olde Huntersville area of Norfolk today. Brings their total to 23.
• An 18 y/o was shot dead at some apartments about 2 miles from the Oceanfront in VB. Brings their total to 11
• In Suffolk a 22 y/o was shot at some apartments in the south yesterday. Brings their total to 4, already meeting their annual average of 4-6 murders.
I use to live in this area and couldn't imagine walking home from the grocery store or ball game and hearing this. There are many great people and a really good sense of community in Downtown and Downtown West and don't deserve this.
I'm not sure about Cleveland Ave specifically but SW Atlanta is where majority of them happen. It seems Buckhead hasn't had as many like 2020 and 2021. I could be wrong, just haven't been hearing about them from the media ever since the secession didn't get approved. We were at 53 as of 4/23 so hopefully we haven't had 10 more since then. Of course with Atlanta's climate the summer/winter weather isn't as much of a factor as the northern cities.
Yeah Cleveland Ave isn't in SW Atlanta but I did find my answer. It is a known hood or at least known enough for Lil Keed to name 3 mixtapes after it. Never heard of him until his death but now I'll definitely give those a listen. A lot of craziness going on here between that and the YSL stuff.
Some good news from Flint: 18 homicides so far until May 15th compared to 21 the same period last year, a decrease of 13.3%. Link.
