STL is a crazy MSA in that the city is so violent and the outlying counties are extremely safe. For 2020, STL city will likely have 262 murders out of 300k population. The other areas in the MSA estimated less than 100 out of 2.5 million population.
last few years, one or more agencies did not follow guidelines for 2019 so the entire msa was excluded from data.

What’s going on in Maskwacis, did a snowball fight get out of control? A rate of 52.1 is just slightly lower than Flint, MI. I’m very disappointed in Canada seeing homicide rates like this.
Walter Hawkins and Cedric Mosley shot each other on Hair Street, near Highway 80 West, police say.
The shooting apparently stemmed from a prior incident between the two individuals.
According to witnesses, JPD says Mosley approached a vehicle that was occupied by Hawkins and two other females about a robbery and aggravated assault involving him a week earlier.
Mosley pulled out a weapon and both men exchanged gunfire, detectives say.
Both men were shot and succumbed to their injuries. WLBT*

City of Pittsburgh ended up with 51 homicides in 2020, up from 37 the year before (which was a 2 decade low). Allegheny County in which Pittsburgh is located had 56. Continues the trend of less homicides in the City of Pittsburgh than the surrounding county.
I'm curious to see what the numbers will be like for the country. I'm thinking around 18.5-19k total at a rate of almost 5.8 per 100k, which is an upward of 16% more than 2019.
