Do people in NYC and LA have a right to say these demeaning things to people in Chicago/SF/DC for being from a smaller city? Is the big city mindset that different in LA than Chicago? Does anyone else feel that Chicago is a "big small town" compared to LA? Or is this guy just delusional when he says that?

I am not closeminded about LA and please don't compare me to the OP. I do not believe in superiority for where I live (IE flyover country comments from the OP, ignorant "big small town" comments, and suggesting to another to drop their roots in Chicago for LA because more people would respond to it). I have been to LA and its a wonderful city and I never said it was dead but was simply pointing out the idiocy with saying Chicago is slightly more vibrant. It's not slightly more vibrant for pedestrians its a good amount more vibrant and so is Boston. Cant comment on Philly and DC because I haven't ever been but many say if Boston counts then they do as well. LA is not a dead city, the shops and restaurants are just as packed as any others but the pedestrian life is one shortchange.
Take it for what you wish but I am not making attacks on LA nor am I flat out bashing it as you seem to suggest I am. The OP and I have nothing in common and I consider that a very good thing. I like all different types of cities and all different types of people from different walks of life.

I agree sir, Boston does have a few areas that LA doesn't but outside of those areas LA likely pulls ahead.
