There are actually about 215,000 college students in the city of Chicago, with a majority in the downtown area and the north side of the city. It's a decent place because most of the areas are quite safe, it's not an extremely expensive city to live, and the trains and buses mean many students don't need to worry about paying to have cars to get around.
