It is cheating because its not apart of the overall "mass" of a building.
And who says that a building can't be built without a decorative feature that's not part of its "mass"? Furthermore, the heights of buildings are measured in different ways. Some do it from ground level to the highest habitable floor. Some do it from underground to the very tip of the actual structure. And so on.

If that's the case & you want to count spires then Houston easily has two supertalls, the other building being One Shell Plaza with its several hundred foot tall antennae bringing the total height to exactly 1,000 ft. It even has a blinking red light at the top to warn aircraft.
Don't be absurd. You know there's a distinct difference between decorative spires, crowns, etc. that are part of the actual building and functional antennae.

Willis "Sears" Tower's functioning antennas are including in its overall height when competing against other supertalls of the world, so why is it not ok for Houston to include One Shell Plaza's functioning antenna that brings its height to 1,000 feet theoredicaly making it a "supertall"?

You Atlanta people crack me up man.

I could literally be at the very top of Houston's 3rd tallest tower, Williams Tower & would be looking down waving at someone on the highest floor of any building in Atlanta.

...then tilt your head up, and you'll see me waving back at you from atop the BOA crown.

Realistically, I never see anyone up there. MM opened the door for that, so I just stepped in.

Still ain't high enough.

You need about 10-20 more floors.

BOA Atlanta is the nations 10th tallest highrise at 1023 ft; Houston's JPMorgan comes in at #13 at 1002 ft.

Wuh?

Williams Tower
Height (measured at the roof): 901 ft
Floors: 64

Bank of America Plaza - Atlanta
Height (measured at the roof): 1,023.0 ft
Height (with the spire): 1,040 ft
Floors: 55 (high ceilings).

I'm not sure what you have been told, but Williams Tower (and no other tower in Houston) is taller than BofA Tower. Not at the roof and not at the Spire. In fact, the spire could be chopped off of BofA and it would STILL be taller than anything in Houston. But instead, I'm in favor of keeping it. It's pretty and kind of like a giant, extend, certain Falange

Wrong

Diagrams - SkyscraperPage.com

Type in Houston, Atlanta in the city diagrams box then hit "go".

You'll see what I'm talking about.
