yes, the west coast, which is all of three states with less than 50 million people vs. the east coast, which is more like 14 and has 120 million+ people. Impressive
Yes and California has a slightly larger GDP than NYC, a state of nearly double NYC metro's population. 22M vs nearly 40M. Impressive
This isnt even worth it anymore, take a visit to the east coast before you try to compare it or start laying off the drugs. Everything from Boston to Miami gives you the choice of what setting, how much history, how affordable, and what kind of climate you want, and scenery because it apparently turns you west coasters on

I've been to the east coast multiple times. the climate in Miami is nothing like the climate in CA. Anybody who's been to both knows this. Humidity makes a world of difference.

Yes and the beaches in LA are nothing like the beaches in Miami, which are cleaner, more fun, and far superior to that of LA, so whats your point about climate? Most people from NYC do a little something called making an investment, where they purchase property in Miami and spend their winters there and rest of the year in NYC.. in contrast someone from LA spends year round with the same monotonous weather

Considering that a large percentage of California is undeveloped nature and that most of the money is made in the large metros (LA, Bay, SD, Fresno, Sac) which add up to 26 million people (a little over half of CA's population) while keeping the lions share of the GDP, yeah it is impressive. the NY Metro is one giant urbanized money-making region... CA doesn't work like that.

WRONG
LA CSA 17,786,419 ($866 billion GDP)
SF Bay 7,427,757 ($508 billion GDP)
SD Metro 3,053,793 ($164 billion GDP)
Sac Metro 2,436,109 ($97 billion GDP)
Fresno 1,063,899 ($29 billion GDP)
Bakersfield 807,407 ($28 billion GDP)
32.5 million and $1.69 trillion GDP to Metro NYC's 22 million and $1.42 trillion GDP. So an extra 10 million people gives you $200 billion more in GDP, that is 3rd world poverty, LMAO

You lose, again
The LA MSA is what I was using, which has close to the same GDP. You just proved me right. And unless you're claiming that more than half of the US is in "third world poverty" then 10 million people with a GDP of 200 billion is pretty good.
And using the logic in this thread the Bay Area is more important than the entire states of PA/NJ/etc. individually.
I do enjoy SF, SD, Portland, and Seattle but I have to give the win to the East Coast. They just have so many more cities and history.
