Do you recommend living west of clifton ave and south of MLK as well?

I don't think the apartments are gated but the stratford apartments are in a completely safe area. They sit by themselves enough that no one is passing through the area unless they live there, and the people that can afford to live there are not going to be committing crimes. The parking might be gated, not sure though.

Here is a streetview of the area I am thinking of on stratford.
stratford ave cincinnati ohio - Google Maps

Everything you need is in walking distance. Those are five minutes to campus. You might want a car for a big grocery trip but you can get your bread and milk and eggs on the street just south of campus (5 minute walk)

about MLK, it is a very long street. the med students more than anyone are around MLK frequently. the problem areas are really down around MLK & Reading, which is a mile or two east.

i agree about not living east of campus (east of jefferson ave) at first. there is not the protective umbrella feeling of campus over there. it is a different type of area and can be quite interesting, but i wouldn't recommend someone living there until they understood the area around campus a little better.

i would 1st recommend the gaslight by ludlow as the best area, but there are places a bit closer on the west/south side of campus. the streets along W Mcmillan are good: Rohs, Chickasaw, Stratford, Victor, and I wouldnt go any further down than that. On Clifton Ave right acroos street from campus you have the stratford heights. Riddle rd has some places but i wouldnt go past riddle street market. On MLK DR. along side the University you will find Bishop street on the left and thats a decent spot too.

I would just googlemap clifton drive around the recommended streets and find what you think is best for you.

I find it somewhat distrurbing people have to recommend a specific number of blocks felt to be safe between the University and the surroundings. I am a UC Eng. grad. as are also my son and one of my daughters (business). When I went there, some of my out-of-state classmates lived in pretty dlipitated suroundings. But the question was not the safety of the neighborhood, but if the house would fall down around them.

What I am saying is that the housing back then was more than delapidated. Those renting to the college students were just plain atrocious.

Can someone help me with how to get from CVG to UC?

Should I just rent a car?

I don't have personal experience with airport shuttles, but on this page

CVG | Bus, Taxi, Limo

there's a link to a service the airport apparently recommends.
