... because it's not worth it.

Ha jeez didn't know "baller" would cause such a controversy. Just meant it's a great school, diverse, excellent teachers, etc. Also, if I'm not mistaken, no other school in the nation offers more AP classes. So yeah, I stand by my statement...not many HSs are better than WH.

Glad you loved this school. In my mind, the experiences at the HS level are among the most intense in your life. In my case, I had several teachers in HS who I rate superior to any I had in college. Why do I say this? Very simple, relate to and care for your students. In college, it became somewhat non-descript, seemed like they were only there for their job. So I applaud the HS teachers who are not only earning a living, but truely care about their students.

Good point.

Imagine how much school districts across the US would change if every teacher took a personal accountability in their students?

Default Three reasons

As a resident of Oakley since 1993 I can point to three primary reasons why people are selling in Oakley right now:

1. Profit taking. The home values have appreciated to a level that many residents can pocket handsome returns.

2. With rising property values, the taxes exploded. Taxes in Oakley have outpaced increases in income for many residents and people are fed up.

3. Cincinnati Public Schools. I see it time and time again. As soon as the oldest child hits 4 years old, up goes the "for sale" sign.

A lot of people in Oakley seem to be moving to the west-side, either Westwood or Covedale / West Price Hill area. I'm not sure why but Oakley does have a LOT of homes up for sale. I drive by there every day to and from work and you see properties for sale pretty consistently.

On my street alone (I'm a Westwood resident), we've had 3 home buyers in the last 6 months who came from the Oakley area.

I think t45209 is on to something, especially with his first point. My new neighbors all said they made a nice profit by selling their home in Oakley (I think a couple were to HUD) and moved in to an even bigger home that was just as nice in Westwood for tens of thousands of dollars less.

Good observation!

Do you have any data to back this statement up?

He's doesn't need to provide any data. He's presenting an opinion, not attempting to state a fact. He didn't say a lot of residents ARE moving to the west-side from Oakley, he said it SEEMS that way.

No and I dont need any data because I didn't state it as a fact.

I said from my personal experience (my street alone) it does seem that people from Oakley are moving into this area. 3 families in about a 6 month period on my street does seem like an awful lot, at least to me.
