I didn't always feel this way though. I used to think it was ok if you didn't dress up in a scary costume. But God has opened my eyes. If you really want to know if you should celebrate it or not, pray that God will let you know and then research the history of the "holiday" and what goes on today during the holiday that's more than "trick or treat". If you still think its okay after that then God be with you.
The nice thing about harvest festivals is that is changes the Holloween primacy.
Substitutes are powerful, they bring change over time, until the original is no longer the focus, and the new becomes the norm. With harvest festivals the focus is giving thanks for the bounty that God gives us and the blessings of His system, and if kids want to dress up in country attire and as animals and silliness what's the big deal... kids love to play.

godspeed,

freedom

I have no idea what a harvest festival is so forgive my ignorance on that matter, but I do know that we aren't supposed to try to "Christianize" Halloween.

We are to reject it! Ephesians 5:11

Instead if you REALLY want to glorify God then all of us Christians need to be praying on Halloween.

Now this message isn't for everyone but God said to go ahead and speak the truth. If it's not for you then you'll know by your reaction "oh my goodness, that isn't true, you are so paranoid, where's my halloween candy for the kids"

This day does nothing but glorify Satan. Do you know the history of trick or treat? It was practiced by the Druids. They went around asking for "treats" which happened to be human sacrifices of the female persuasion. If you didn't give it to them, then you were in for a "trick" which was a symbol drawn on your house with the threat that Satan would kill someone in your house that night.

Research it.

Instead of trying to make this a "christian" celebration, we need to be praying on Halloween for all of the human sacrifices that go on during that day. Yes, there are still human sacrifice rituals that go on several times per year. Halloween is a big one.

Why you should care is that this is how the devil is gaining his power to bring to light all that is to come in Revelation. Sure, what's going to happen is going to happen but we can slow it down. Because right now isn't the right time, we aren't ready yet, but if we aren't praying against these ceremonies, praying for God that they won't get the sacrifices or that the sacrifices will be set free then bad times will be here sooner than we think.

We already see it coming. We see it with what is going on. But we can still slow it down by intercessory prayer.

So instead of letting your kids trick or treat and possible getting candy from people who "pray" evil things over the candy before they hand it out, instead of glorifying Satan by participating in this evil holiday (and that can be researched), wake up!

Don't fall for the devils schemes. "It isn't that bad" , "you can participate by going around to houses spreading God's word." - No, God already told you not to mix darkness with light. Don't you know how clever the devil is? Don't you know that the devil has his people in the church misleading you?

I'll be spending the week before up until the day praying.

It was hard for me to admit that some things that seem normal have deep satanic roots but I'm not surprised as the devil is clever.

I pray that you all will pray over this issue and that you'll be compelled to pray for our world.

I was going to paste a blurb from a website that clearly shows the pagan/nonchristian celebration of Halloween, but then I realized if people REALLY want to know it is right at their fingertips. Most of the time people already know and they think, "AW, it doesn't matter. God knows I'm just having fun!" I think that thinking is taking God for granted and even mocking Him. **see the scriptures posted by Neutral**

As for me and my household, we choose NOT to participate. I don't care how "fun" it is, it is disrespectful to God. My children love to dress up and eat candy. I have taught them that it is fine to dress up and eat candy (in moderation of course) any day of the year!
I think it is interesting that many people celebrate holidays for "fun", knowing the pagan roots. It seems like Satan has found a weakness in Christians.

Personally, I give out candy/treats to the little kids and some big kids that come to my door. Those who bring suitcases (and I have seen some) are not encouraged! To me it is a fun time to dress up and enjoy the treats. I don't think that kids should be encouraged to think about or dwell on scary associations/images. God bless.

Do you know about harvest festivals? They go back to Adam and Eve....

Has nothing to do with "trick or treat" or pagan holidays...

If darkness takes any day from the Lord. TAKE IT BACK!

godspeed,

freedom

I actually get to work on Halloween this year and I haven't gone Trick or Treating in a good 15 years. I personally have no problems with it. When I was in High School, I worked for a department store tent sale over the summer. Basically we were getting rid of everything/anything in the inventory to get ready for the new stuff to come in. One of the things on the register was a little Halloween statue. A lady came through the line and then proceeded to hold up the line by giving us a 20 minute lecture on how we were not to be selling things "of the devil" and that we would go to hell because it was sitting beside the cash register. We just stared at her. Why yell at us for something that the store was selling that she didn't believe in? I have no problems with kids going trick or treating. If you look at some of the many different histories on Halloween (not just one or two that people choose to look at), one of the histories says that trick or treating was used to scare away evil spirits from the houses. So it really depends on which of the histories you choose to look at and which you choose to ignore. Where I have a problem with Halloween is when we get extra busy because kids and adults alike are out doing stupid things and then end up either getting hurt or hurting someone else. Don't get me wrong, I love working, I just don't like people getting hurt out of stupidity.

Though I know the message wasn't for everyone, I still think that some people aren't getting it. That was to be expected but my goodness it's disheartening.

Once again, you'll know if this message is for you by your reaction. If you react like I just gave you a cup of burning hot, bitter, lemon juice with spicy pepper then you know that for whatever reason this wasn't meant for you.

I don't care about foolish pride or justifications.

All I care about is that someone gets the message and gets down on their knees and prays. Christians need to wake up and start praying.

God has put a passion in my heart about this because the timing is wrong and we still have a chance to slow it down.

Maybe the person or people I am writing to haven't even visited this thread yet but it's time to WAKE UP.

Get your head out of the stand. Stop believing that everything man says is good actually is. WAKE UP and realize that Satan has this world deceived including many well-intentioned Christians.

But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for it is light that makes everything visible. This is why it is said:
"Wake up, O sleeper,
rise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you
."
Ephesians 5:13-14

I'm not posting to argue. I just want someone to get the message. This is not about dressing up in costumes and holiday parties! - stop being so foolish.

This is about Satan obtaining full power at a time when the world is not ready for it. Stop glorifying him! Where are the prayer warriors? Where are the intercessors?

I say this message with a lot of passion but I say it in love.

I can't say anymore, people will believe whatever they want to believe, but my heart still aches for those who choose to turn and look the other way.

May God open all of our eyes before it's too late.

Edit: I'm editing this to add that I've said my piece on this issue. It's not my place to refute anything any further. You have your Bible, you have the Book of Revelation (if you don't believe the devil has power and needs more power before he can completely & temporarily wreck havoc), you have common sense, and you have the ability to research. Hopefully you also have the voice of God in your ear and a heart that's not hardened. I pray that God will open at least two more eyes. That's all.
