My sense is that we deal with the same thing that the Islamic culture deals with. The goodhearted, dedicated people are out there living their faith and fighting to keep from being over taken by extremists. I'm kinda looking forward to the day some of these Bible-thumpers start putting on vests and killing themselves in God's name. Hell....I'll even provide the sewing machine....free of charge!!

Sometimes reading what others write challenges you to dig into it and find things out...I used to argue with someone here regarding here adamant obsession for Saturday Sabbath and so I did some research on it and had to admit that nowhere in the NT does it state that the Sabbath was changed to sunday, in fact, if one looks at all the Epistles regarding when they met for worship, it indicates Saturday, not Sunday, and the fact that in the OT HaShem Hinself states that we are to observe it and that it is to be a statute forever...Now, her take on the Ten Commandments still being in force but not the whole Torah, I differ here for Yeshua Himself stated that not one jot or tittle shall pass from the Law until Heaven and Earth pass away, and that hasn't happened yet, so what does that mean?...It means Torah is still to be observed..In fact, the Ten are contained within the Torah...Yeshua Himself observed Torah His whole life and all of what He preached came from Torah and if we are to walk as Yeshua walked, so what does that mean?...Yeshua Himself stated that He did not come to abolish the Law or the Prophets...But to fulfill them...And that He did, it seems He showed that, while we can be tempted, we can still resist and overcome, as He Himself was tempted and overcame...So, through my findings this is where I differ with that person...

Wow......got a couple of great blessings this morning. I was really beginning to think that the only folks who posted regularly were some of these fringe elements. Whether they are actually Christian IDK. What I do know is that they don't represent MY understanding of Christianity.

FWIW.

Richard,

You have to keep in mind the Jews had two sets of laws. The written law which we know as the OT.
And the oral law. (which was written down long after Jesus was crucified)
Jesus hints at that by saying "it is written" and "it is said".

people who come to argue here are the ones you should be worried about. There is alot to learn on forums, alot more that local churches. There are different types of folks asking questions. there are fundies who burn folks in hell, there there are others who dont, there are those who drink, others who say not to even touch it. It is no different than a church, except at church people tend to stay silent with their questions. If you definition of cult is someone who does not believe everything modern christianity teaches then you should redifine you meaning.

Lots of whackjobs on this forum who faithfully believe that their Church Of What's Happening Now has all the answers and that anybody who believes that the sacred truth is in Luke rather than Mark will be forever forced to suffer excruciating pain in Hell. I mean, I can see these guys practically licking their chops at the prospect, because it will prove them to be holier than someone else. I'm fairly certain that Christ reads some of these posts and thinks, "Man. I made it so simple and these guys have totally screwed it up again. I mean, just read the Beatitudes and live by them and you'll do okay. But, nooooooooo, they have to make it all convoluted."

Personally, I think there needs to be two sub forums: Whackjob Christians and Non Whackjob Christians.

That's understandable! There are a lot of strange doctrines and beliefs represented here. And they tend to pile on in an effort to drown out the voice of Christians. I have questioned the value of such a forum due to these people. All I can do is present the truth, even though they will attack it from all sides, and believe God's promise that His word will not return void.
