You mean a lining?

Some girl told me she hung out with those dudes before. She could have been a victim

Nonsense. I hope people don't fall for these scare tactics.

So, how is Belmont-Cragin dropping like a bullet? Yes, I know it's majority Latino but does that mean it is somehow dropping? Latino areas in Chicago seem to be in fairly good shape.

Look at the crime stats. If it has been that long since you have been there that you have to ask that question, then you are in for a rude awakening once you do go back there.

I believe the Latino's in this area are making a good influence. In fact, most Latino's that I know are very clean and always work hard to maintain they're homes. Portage Park may be facing an increase in Latino's, but maybe its for the better. Gang activity is very scarce in this area so that obviously means no one is to be blamed for crime just because of they're race. They're are even Latino's in this area that are involved with the LSC (Local School Counsel) to make our schools better. If we keep this up then we can make Portage Park into a neighborhood where Pollacks and Latino's can work together to preserve old Portage Park and to make it a better place. After all, two is better than one.

I am Latino resident of portage park. If anyone thinks we are unsanitary take a look at my life. I may be a little to young to be involved in our neighborhood association but at least I'm doing my part. When ever I see litter on peoples lawns or on the streets I have a tendency to pick it up and put it in its place. Whenever I see graffiti I immediately report it to 311. I am also an honor student at my school. If you take a look at my house you will find beautiful flower beds all around it as well as a well manicured lawn and well trimmed shrubs. If anything, you can say that I'm fulfilling my promise to help preserve an old portage park home.

Cool-go for it. If there more young people like you there would be more neighborhoods like yours in the city of Chicago and cities all over America . I hope when you graduate that you would really get involved in your community. I wish nothing but the best for you and your neighbors in PP to keep it nice.

It is now 2016 and surprise, surprise, Portage Park is on the upswing. If anything, the Latinos are being priced out. Houses hit the market at $400k and they sell within 5 days.

Not sure about the specific marketing times, but it does appear Portage Park has done well in terms of price over time. Top 10 performer since 2000.

I feel like there is definitely some upside around here. I have a couple of friends who were renting in Ravenswood and North Center buy houses out here when the time came to purchase a home. It may be super slow and steady, but six corners will eventually find its groove. But yeah, the northern part of Portage Park is definitely pretty nice.
