Maybe you need to go back there then.

Hmm, I had not thought of that. I will be there in July. Do you just mean in terms of congestion?

Samantha,

There is, of course, a ton of street/traffic congestion when the Cubs are playing.

I suspect that the person who posted that the area "sucks" during September is not into the Cubs or Cubs Fans...maybe they are a Sox fan?

Either way, don't plan on driving before/during/after a game or taking a bus and getting anywhere fast. Even with the Red Line and buses to/from the game, a million people still park around Wrigley Field, and traffic is always bad on game days. It easily doubles my trip home, since I live near Wrigleyville.

lake michigan to the east
sheffield to the west (berlin etc)
irving park to the north

Only this definition can cover most of the gay establishments, which are part of boystown
I would not consider Addison & Lake Shore Dr. to be part of Boystown either. Perhaps Broadway and west. Not LSD. Maybe Boystown is starting to sprawl and annex. Who knew.

1)(For the OP) This is correct. Also, the festivals in the area (and the Pride Parade) that take place in the summer and fall add to traffic even more. This is one of the reasons is suggest taking the bus when you can.

2)Actually the dude that posted the "sucks" comment is a Cardinals fan. I hope he opens his mouth a bit more during baseball season in a bar and he gets a nice knuckle sandwich or two.

So do you think this area will be okay for me for the month of July?

I will have my car, but will probably leave it parked most of the time except for occasional trips to the burbs (and maybe even then we will take the train). Worst case, on a game day, I could walk to and from work - couldn't I???

I assume it would be safe to do so in that area - do you agree?
