Anything "sawed off" isn't cool.

Catalytic converters can cost upwards of $500 dollars if your vehicle fails emissions because of a faulty one.

It's also packed with precious metals which increasingly makes them targets for theft as commodity prices go up.

I have a friend who had her catalytic converter stolen in Bucktown, after her car had been stolen a year before. This was in a private, fenced parking lot.

But then again, I had a friend in Milwaukee who had his car stolen three times. The SAME CAR. He became an expert in starting the ignition with a screwdriver after the steering column had been broken.

The car must have been an Accord, Civic, Maxima, Camry, or Corolla. Spite what people may think, these everyday cars have higher theft rates than any luxury or sports car since they can be parted out and sold off instantly.

You got it!

The first car from Bucktown was a '97 Acura Integra.

The second car I mentioned from Milwaukee was a '95 Honda Accord.

Sadly, I know several people whose catalytic converters have been stolen too.
