Chicago residents pop your champagne

Good riddance. I was a big fan of hers coming out of the last mayoral election but she failed big time on two things:

1. Covid response and locking everything down - was understandable for 30-60 days but after that everything should have been left open with no restrictions since some of us quickly figured out it was way overblown. The financial impact, schools closing, etc. was disastrous and is still being felt with sky high inflation.

2. Crime. Way too many riots and we need more police and more support for police. Stop listening to the defunders and the Adam Toledo apologists and start getting tough on crime.

I hope Paul Vallas wins. I like him...liked his policies in last election cycle...and hope he sticks to the tough on crime stance.

Vallas doesn't stand a chance against the combined CTU/Identitarian political machine. One political hack will simply be replaced by another, probably even worse political hack.

I'm glad Lightfoot is gone but Paul Vallas doesn't even live in Chicago. He's a carpetbagger. He'll work for any city that is willing to hire him and leave after his contract is over. I pray to god he loses.

Right -- so instead, vote for the guy who never even lived in Chicago until he got a job at CPS.

He wasn't born in Chicago and moved to Chicago as a young adult. At least hes a Chicagoan unlike Vallas.

I don't see how he passes the "Chicagoan" litmus test any more than someone who WAS born and lived in Chicago, returned as an adult, stayed for decades, and returned again.

Vallas doesn't live in Chicago anymore, he lives in Palos Heights.

I wouldn't dismiss Vallas' chances. He overperformed today. His base will turn out with room to grow. He's too old imo but the problems Chicago have may be enough to put him in the mayor's office. Johnson isn't serious enough. Wanting to "defund" the police, moar taxes on businesses AND residents?

Congrats, Chicago can only do better. Unless another George Soros WEF backed candidate gets in whose goal is to destroy the city.
