The neighborhoods in the NW section of the city tend to be more residential and quieter.

personone, GREAT CALL!

Those are some of my favorite neighborhoods...

OP? It's been a bit. Have you made any further steps to relocating/ deciding on an area for you??

Which parts of Lincoln Park is the most quiet, or do you recommend another neighborhood? Are there any specific apartment complexes you can recommend? My budget is $1300-1500. I'm also bringing cats and need a smoke-free residence. Any advice would be appreciated.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and recommend East/West Garfield Park or North Lawndale. We need to start racially and economically integrating these communities if we are to have any chance of desegregating our City and achieving social justice. All the social programs in the world are not going to do anything if our residents themselves will not actively participate in improving communities!

The access to shopping and authentic Mexican food would be phenomenal for maylily11x!

Yes, we should definitely add South Lawndale to this as well, aka Little Village (west) and Marshall Square (east). Brain lock. Sorry! I think at this time though, our predominately African-American neighborhoods need more help and integration. I mean, East Garfield Park, which is supposedly gentrifying, is 92% African-American. West Garfield Park is 96%. North Lawndale is 87% (probably more like 98% west of California). Completely inexcusable in a City which has so many progressive left-leaning residents. If all those BLM signs up north are anything more than an empty slogan, the people posting them need to step up.

BRU67, how did you forget your OWN (La Villita), homie?!?

OP, check out South Lawndale!

BRU67, is 26th Street NOT the 2nd most populous in terms of revenue nd frequency shopped for its area, next to the Magnificent Mile?

THAT says something positive, in my opinion....

I know right? It's pretty hard to forget it, particularly on a weekend summer night! Great community though. Great restaurants obviously and it's getting more diverse. More so east of Kedzie but we're seeing improvements and investments throughout.

I don't know if this poster is trolling or just being naive, but a new resident to Chicago should NOT live in those neighborhoods.

Nope, not trolling. If one believes that disinvestment, police violence, redlining, and segregated schools with fewer resources are the source of the woes of these areas, as many appear to (in varying degrees of shrillness), there is no reason not to move into one to help rectify these things. Otherwise, they will just persist, yes?

If you believe that other factors are the cause of the woes, feel free to ignore my recommendation and steer clear.

Ok then, then also Englewood. Close to the expressway, hospital right there, and with all the empty lots it's so green! It's like you're almost in the country with some of them overgrown empty lots, so lush! Quite affordable, too. But most important, aside from the gunshots, it's very quit.
