I know know my pipes are rusty, so that makes me uncomfortable with my particular tap, not all taps though.

I can't stand throwing away 5+ plastic bottles away everyday though, so I just buy those big jugs from the grocery store that you put in your fridge. That lasts me a week or so.

Have you ever considered ordering Culligan or Ice Mountain?

I thought they used pvc for water pipes. Buy a water filter for your sink or use the fridge water that is filtered too. That's what we do. Those water bottles must be a pain to lug around . I drink way too much water to keep up with those. On a positive note u could always exercise with them!

I don't lug the 3 gallon jug around -- it sits in my fridge and I get water from it when I need it.

It's cheaper than the brita faucet filters -- which frankly don't seem to work anyway -- I used to have on. I would fill a glass with water, set it by my bed and when I would drink from it in the morning, it would taste terrible and I could see sediment on the bottom -- with the ice mountain spring water, it tastes just as good the morning after it's been sitting around.

PVC is relatively new -- most of Chicago is old.

We use Brita Faucet Filters and I have never seen any sediment. If I was in your situation I would be buying the jugs too. I doubt Brita can filter out water from old and rusty pipes.

This water cant be good for your hair. We also have a water filter in our shower and it makes a difference. Just a suggestion.

My water lately has had the same overwhelming odor of water that it has for years.
