Thanks for helping me out here, people. I have now arrived in Chicago and I'm looking forward setting in, making new friends, getting to know the city, and everything else.

Another quick question, though - I need to call the electric company to put the account for my apartment in my name, do you know the company/phone number to call for that? Thanks!

the whole building is studios. it's an old hotel. $614, heat, gas, electric all included (there's bigger and smaller apts than mine, so the price can vary) and hell for the holidays they even take out the cash boxes for the washers and dryers - FREE LAUNDRY. yep. i washed everything i could find when i found that out.

Thats not bad. The highest I ever paid for a studio was in Uptown near Ashland and Wilson (it was an old hotel also). I paid $635 all utilities included. I think the price has not changed since I lived there which was about 5 years ago.
I got you beat on price though right now. Maybe I should go scout it out ahead of time to see what size places they have.

Fair point....I have a relatively normal-sized one-bedroom. And everything is included save electricity (and internet, cable, phone, of course), so it's not too bad.

No on-site laundry, though....laundromat is right around the corner, but I'm still seriously not looking forward to that.

I have loved going to the laundromat in the past. It is a great place to meet your neighbors and available men or women whichever you prefer...Take an inconvience and make it into a positive.
