Believe me- it's in the works already...thing is cops took the tape from the gas station so the clerk says. I generally like cops- I don't speak bad about them and wish them all the best. That being said a lot of them need psych re-evaluations because they aint fit for the job.

Hopefully everyone finds out as much information as possible. Maybe Internal Affairs has the tape.

Yeah, no kidding. Odd to do 2 winking smilie faces. If there was a tape I'm sure it was taken as evidence. If you weren't going to be on the receiving end of the car, then I'm sure your opinion will be different. You say the Police could have done things different, sure sounds like your cousin could have done plenty of things different to have avoided the whole situation. What was his malfunction for the night? Also, as a cousin I'm sure you would have a biased view as to what took place. It is hard for family to admit that their loved one did wrong. Also I'm sure there will be the eventual civil suit for money brewing, so I'm sure the story of his "innocence" will continue to be refined.

Cops are never in the wrong- sorry I ever brought it up....Interesting how people believe everything they see on TV, but when someone has a live first hand account of what happened they're lying or stretching the truth. America America why are many of our people so easily deceived? Oh I get it we just believe what we want to believe.

Now that the year is over, where are the crime statistics for Chicago and other cities in 2010?

Also read the article from original poster and think the murder decrease is great. I think the city of Chicago has a lot of potential but my biggest draw from it is the crime.

The odds that you will get murdered if you are not a black or hispanic male gangbanger under the age of 40 are pretty nil.

The rates for each race were posted through November (total 412 homicides). I just pushed them out to represent the total for the year of 435. I doubt there were any HUGE changes in the charactaristics of the 23 murders in December.

Homicides:
Black: 332
Hispanic: 84
White: 18
Asian: 1

Population:
Black: 34%
Hispanic: 27%
White: 34%
Asian: 5%

Per 100,000:
Black: 34.3/100,000
Hispanic: 10.92/100,000
White: 1.86/100,000
Asian: 0.66/100,000

59% of murders had direct ties to gangs. 79% of people had prior records with the CPD. Over half happened during nighttime hours. The safest community areas through November saw 3 murders for 559,000 people. - roughly the northwest side, near north areas, hyde park, southwest sides, midway area. The most dangerous community areas saw 218 murders for 559,000 people - half the murders and less than 20% of the population.

So yes, if you're not in a gang, don't have a rap sheet with the police and avoid certain areas of the city your chances of getting murdered basically drop to two one-thousandths of a percent each year (around 2/100,000).
