There used to be venue in Mokena called Capone's that brought in some pretty big name acts. Perhaps not names as big as Nickelback or Justin Beiber though. It closed down due to mismanagement though.
Uhh...It sounds to me like you're the one promoting "talentless crap on the radio." Yes, I suppose if I were into Nickelback and Justin Beiber, the burbs would be a great scene for me.

You have said nothing that discredits what I said about good bands generally playing the city. For dates it had less to do with entertainment options (though that was part of it) and more to do with the pool of people with whom I was more compatible tending to be urban-dwellers.

Huge name acts don't usually come to the Hammond, Indiana or Mokena, Illinois.. They come to Chicago.

Look at this metal show. Only five bucks (unlike the city..). And yes, if you like metal, they are good bands. Just a crowded small bar and not huge venue flooded with hipsters..

There is a wide range of very talented small time bands playing at nightspots as much for fun as some shot at "the big time" in the suburbs just as there are some very skilled chefs / restuarentuers working outside the 606xx zone.

The abundance of "lock step non-conformists" one encounters in any of Chicago's "hot" areas is indicative of how easy it is to slap on some tight jeans, retro spectacles and hoist a craft beer as you boldly join the lemmings spreading out over Bucktown/Wicker Park/ Logan Square/Ukrianian Village in their "explorations" of Pilsen / Bridgeport and other "exotic" places...

Good God. On second thought, Kid Rock isn't looking so bad anymore. Everything about that flyer makes me think of Spinal Tap.

Someone should make a poll to test if the city or suburbs have more and better quality entertainment options.
