Oh by the way, the first tower of Wolf Point (525 feet) is supposed to break ground on July 31st and there's been more proposals for Lakeview this week (i.e a 15 story building, now a 4 story-25 unit building, etc) and the developers of Optima Tower are talking about building another tower right next to it now that will be even taller.

Nice to see the Wolf Point NIMBYs strike out.

I dunno. Charles Shaw is California wine, after all, and it doesn't get much cheaper than that Though I do hear it's approaching nearly $4.00 a bottle in some states.

Those are two very different statements. Wine sales are not "hurting quite a bit".

So your basic point is that California is producing more wine, Americans are drinking more wine, but the increase in consumption isn't keeping pace with the increase in production (but Chinese consumption is booming). Therefor, Chicago restaurants are failing. Sorry - I'm not seeing the logic here.

I agree with Vlajos on the source of your link. What are you going to provide us with next - some links from the North Carolina Chamber of Commerce about how smoking isn't bad for you?

Good point, though I wouldn't drink it if you paid me.

Yeah. I am not a fan of NIMBYs. I swear it is seldom a lot of them have an actual valid point more than "omg that's more PEOPLE in my neighborhood. I don't want THAT"

Did somebody settle with Kelleher? Chicago's Spire Remains Hole in the Ground - WSJ.com

I gotta say I have very mixed feelings about plopping anything too car-centric at Wolf Point. If there is no good way to get to/from the site it could very well end up being a redux of River City -- isolated and not really appealing. The Problem With Wolf Point and Its 1,285 Parking Spaces | Streetsblog Chicago Who was that was extolling "Chicago values" a while back???

I sorta have visions of the Spire site being the new Block 37 albatross -- 108 North State Street - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia A Brief History of Block 37

Still plenty of time before any fat lady starts singing out there...
