I believe the point Mr Carson was trying to make is that NYC blacks are far more educated and advanced than their inferior Chicago counterparts.

Are you serious, San Fran natural beauty blows Miami out of the water.

No that was not his original first point at all, but more like you trying to sway the thread in a direction that is not relevant.

What on earth are you talking about. I am saying in regards to being laid back and hustle and bustle. Ihave no idea what natural beauty has to do with it? Both Miami and SF share the same amount of hustle and bustle and laid backness as Chicago. You can also throw LA in that group.

It can be, but I think it's usually about the same as here in my experience. There are a lot of people in a pissing match about who knows who, which agency you work for, etc. I wouldn't call it as stressful as NYC though, just a different kind of pissing match overall. DC is expensive though, more than Chicago, but less than NYC. Sometimes though, I do agree that it can be more stressful than Chicago, but on average it doesn't feel like that. DC is pretty laid back compared to NYC and semi on par with Chicago.

There were never alleys in NYC.

They were never built because the land was too valuable for these secondary uses (waste removal, parking, etc.). You aren't going to build secondary streets when you could instead be building living and working space.

I agree with certain points from Mr.Carson, but I do not think NYC is the promise land that he is making out to be and this is someone who is not love with Chicago.

However, I could imagine NYC being more stressful from financial standpoint alone. I stress out over my finances here in Chicago. I can even imagine what that would be like in NYC/

Keep in mind that salaries are higher in NYC, and rent burden (% of salary going towards rent) is about the same as in Chicago.

So the average person probably has the same stress over finances in both cities. The rent is higher in NYC, but the incomes are higher.

Do you have a source showing the rent burden comparison? It seems to me that rent in NYC is at least double what it is in Chicago, and salaries (at least in my field) are at most only 50% higher.

I too would like to see a source. NYC rents seem to be about double the rent of Chicago but not double the pay of Chicago.
