More non-chain restaurants in suburbia. How many Olive Gardens, Applebees etc. do you need?! But since we sometimes have issues making ends meet with raising the kiddo's, it needs to be a good value. None of this $10 for an appetizer stuff! We have some like Grande Jakes and Dengeos, but we need more!

A place called "Spice N Grill" which is really good. It's an Indian and Pakistan based restaurant. I got a great voucher form Brownhub.com, which allowed me to save a little money on my meal..

There's a few decent Jewish delis in the loop like Perry's and Eppy's..and then Ashkenaz in the Gold Coast. Then Manny's near UIC.
Manny's remains the true iconic spot for Jewish food. I don't think the Jewish deli seen in Chicago is bad for there are are a number of good Jewish delis both in the city and in the north suburbs.

but considering the long history and the large size of the Chicago Jewish community (this city always was and still is one of the real major US Jewish centers), we probably have no kept up with New York in maintaining the cuisine and arguably have been passed over (pun intended) by the far newer Jewish community in LA which a number of excellent and famed delis exist (on the west coast; who knew? nu.)

I vote for Malaysian food. I'm aware of three restaurants in the entire area (Arlington Heights, Mundelein, and Hoffman Estates) that serve Malsysian food, but 0 are in Chicago itself. Talk about a melting pot of flavors..I hope there's some in the city I'm not aware of, but yeah a little surprising to me.
I ate at a Malaysian restaurant in Chinatown. If it was representative of Malaysian cuisine, I can see why there aren't many around.

There's plenty of options. They just happen to be in neighborhoods most CDers don't spend a lot of time in.

Anyway, the city's one and only Chilean restaurant recently closed, but at least it's being replaced by something equally exotic: Mexican. Some of the food was "OK" but the baked empanadas were outstanding.
