Oh ok thanks Drover, wasn't sure if he was being sarcastic or not, sometimes it is hard to read that through a forum post. The black part would not bother me of course.

Not sure of the exact number but I know the condo is somewhere on Honroe Street. The girl I have been speaking with said Scott Joplin schoo is directly across the street from her.

I guess I'm kind of confused -- I thought you were looking for a diverse neighborhood. It seems you and I have fundamentally different ideas of what constitutes "diverse."

Perhaps, I feel diverse, is different races, such as Asian, Hispanic, Caucasian, African-American, etc., living and/or working in the same area.

The only reason I pointed out that the black part wouldn't bother me, is because I am black and if I could not find a culturally diverse neighborhood that I could (a) afford (b) liked (c) the commute wasn't too bad too work, then I would live amongst what I already know.

Hope that makes more sense.

Where would you be working? Or do you not have a job lined up yet? Because your life could be a little miserable if you end up living in, say, Ashburn, while your job is up in Skokie.

Default Drover

MLogan,

Drover is not racist, just states the facts. The facts are Englewood sucks, not because it is black, but because it is a crime-ridden hole that is falling further and further into decay. Black or White or Latino, few people would choose to live there if they had other options.

To get a sense of the geographic distribution of crime in Chicago you should check out

This website uses data from the Chicago Police Department and can graphically display crimes using all sorts of filters. Take a look at all homicides (http://chicago.everyblock.com/crime/filter/?primary_type=homicide - broken link) since June 15, 2007.
